Group: Pitch Reflection
We started our pitch off talking about where we had taken inspiration from and then went on to talk about our concept as well as mentioning a bit of the extra information that will not be portrayed in our opening scene such as background information on the characters, the main concept can be found on the blog. After finishing talking about the concept we began to speak in more detail about the two characters, how they will be represented and their costumes. After we mentioned the location we will be filming at which is going to be the Tunbridge Wells Rugby Club, we showed pictures of what we would like the location to look like and what the location actually looks like and the area we have to work with. We also spoke about technical areas of the filming for example shots we plan to use, editing techniques we plan to use as well as typography that we will use for the title and credits and the sound that will be used including non-diagetic murmurs and dialogue from the characters.
Once we had finished our presentation we were given feedback on our work. People mentioned that the ideas we had for typography were really imaginative but they weren't sure if we were going to use the computer to add these in or use the actual handwriting of our actors to which we answered that it would depend if the actors were able to match their handwriting and keep it easily readable for a title but if this didn't work we would have to use the computer to edit it in. We also received some inquiries about our filming location saying that the design is significantly different, we then explained how we would be able to dress the area as we saw fit and this would let us create the anonymous feel we wanted for the room. The fact we had decided to use a noose hanging in the background was thought to be being too obvious for our storyline, so we took this and decided we still would need the noose for certain shots and to effect our story so we decided to include this still but instead of having it in the background we decided to have the noose on the table so it would be seen in the titles when the diary is being written in. We also received comments on how we plan to show the two characters as being portrayed as the same person, the idea we explained of using blue contact lenses to link up the two characters with eye line shots that go from the protagonist to the antagonist as well as using the mirror shots to show that the characters are the same, we got told that these were both great ways to show that the two characters are actually the same person, however we also got told that if we were to use the same type of costume for both characters this would really help, however we had already decided that the man would be wearing plan modern clothes to keep him anonymous, and the woman would be wearing a white gown to give her a ghostly feel. We were also asked about the name for a piece which we said was either going to be 'hollow' since this was highest rated on our audience survey and we were also thinking about 'snuff' after both of these names got criticised, in the end we decided that 'Schism' would fit our piece better as it has connotations of mental health and a sense of impending darkness.
A link to our presentation will be posted here once it is uploaded to SlideShare...
